This .308/7.62 upper by Guntec USA fits DPMS first generation 308 pattern lowers. These receivers are the very popular DPMS Gen 1 Low Profile Pattern upper receivers. DPMS made their original .308 pattern in High or Low profile. Do not confuse this LP model with the DPMS Gen II (aka small frame similar to AR15 size) which is a recent and rarely found newer item by DPMS. These uppers are NOT THE DPMS SMALL FRAME 308 GII MODEL. The GII are not well embraced by third party manufacturers at this time and there are very few handguards and lowers available on the market for it. 

The DPMS LP upper being sold in this listing fits the much more common original DPMS Pattern style lowers that are produced by many companies such as Aero, CMMG, Bushmaster, 80% 308 lowers, and LR308. This most recent Guntec version of the DPMS pattern 308 upper features aesthetic improvements and a functional forward assist (the location of the assist moved from Guntec's first receiver release as shown in our comparison picture).

ALTHOUGH GUNTEC CALLS THIS UPPER A GEN2, THEY MEAN THIS IS GUNTEC'S SECOND GENERATION RECEIVER. THIS UPPER RECEIVER FITS THE MUCH MORE COMMON DPMS ORIGINAL PATTERN LOWERS and NOT THE NEWEST RARELY SEEN SMALL FRAME .308 DPMS GII.
