This 5.56 chambered 16 inch Performance Series .625 Barrel is machined from 4150 Chrome Moly Vanadium steel with a QPQ Corrosion Resistant Finish. Our Performance Series Barrels feature a Nickel Boron Coated Extended M4 Feed Ramp Extension.

Hanson Series Barrels feature our proprietary BA Hanson profile and include a pinned lo-pro gas block. Hanson barrels are not designed to work with aftermarket piston kits.

“The original BA Hanson profile barrels have a .750” diameter at the gas block journal and it is more of a light/medium contour. The BA Hanson .625” barrels are called this due to .625? diameter at the gas block journal. This profile is a thinner and lighter weight version of the original BA Hanson profile. Each BA Hanson barrel comes with a pinned, lo-pro Gas Block already installed which makes them an excellent value.”

What is BA Hanson?

The BA Hanson Series exemplifies the quality and accuracy you have come to expect from Ballistic Advantage. BA Hanson Profile barrels feature a shoulder-less design, symmetrically limiting barrel “whip” and allowing the barrel too quickly return to its home position. This is extremely beneficial for follow up shots at a high rate of fire or full auto fire. Lightweight feel without the lightweight limitations, it is truly ideal for how an AR-15 is designed to perform.

I'm getting 7" groups at 450 yards with this barrel. That's great because I'm loading to 2750 fps, PMC range brass, CFE 223 26.5gr, Hdy 55 FMJs so it's just a plinking round with powder to keep the barrel clean, and ball powder at low velocity to reduce flame cutting. I just picked the velocity based on my scope hashmarks lining up well, at 300, 400, 450 and 500 yards, so naturally it's nice to get some accuracy as well.

I was searching for a light and accurate barrel at a good price point. When these are on sale or on promotion that come bundled with a free stripped upper, you can't beat them. I have turned a bunch a fellow 3 Gun competitors to these barrels. The Hanson profile is slick, durable and light. It stands head and shoulders above the competitor's pencil barrels in value and accuracy.

After comparing this barrel to the competition, I decided to get one. The barrel is very light. The workmanship is great with no burs. The Fail Zero ramp feeds are a bonus. I use Fail Zero BCGs in my ARs. After putting 125 5.56 55g FMJ rounds through the barrel, all 5 shot groups were super tight and truly sub MOA at 100 yards. The next visit to the range will be with 77g match ammo. My guess is the barrel will perform at a stellar level.
